Hi folks,

I have the following rig.....

Dell UltraSharp U3011 30" Widescreen LCD Monitor
Coolermaster Storm Tooper Case
Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z Motherboard
Intel Core i7-2700k CPU
2 X Gigbyte HD7970 3GB Graphics Cards in Crossfire
Corsair H100 Liquid CPU Cooler
AData S511 240Gb Solid State Drive
1TB SAMSUNG HD103SJ SpinPoint F3 SATA-II Hard Drive
2 x Star Tech SATA hot swop Caddies.
Samsung HD753LJ 750Gb Hard Disk
Pioneer BD-RW BDR206D Blu-ray Drive
Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-219L Drive
16Gb RAM ( 4 X 4Gb RipJawsZ Quad Channel kit)
Seasonic Platinum 1000W Power Supply.

Everything was running fine up to a couple of days ago. My rig was left to download some files, the monitor had gone into standby mode. I went back in the room 1/2 hour later to hear the GPU fan/s running at high speed as if i'd been gaming, the room was like a sauna, as soon as the monitor became active the fan speed started to reduce.

I wondered if there was a graphics card problem, i removed both cards and checked them for dust, both cards very clean so i swopped them over incase the problem was GPU based, the problem is still there.
I uninstalled the AMD Catalyst 13.11 BETA 8 drivers (Used driver sweeper too) and installed 13.11 Beta 9 drivers, problem still there.:(

I've also found that i cannot get manual fan control to work in CCC, this used to work fine?

Any idea's folks?

BTW, i'm running Windows 7 64 bit.

had that and lots of others getting the same - seemed to only happen with the card overclocked - but I had it twice at the desktop running beta8 - I'm on beta9.2 drivers now and removed the ai-overclock so its at stock speeds and havent noticed it since but others report it might still be there.

Since you have 7970's - you could try the 13.10 WHQL driver - only BF4 players and R7/R9 people need the 13.11 betas.

Thanks for that info, cards are running at stock speeds though.
I have BF4 installed (not that impressed with it, prefer BF3)
I can only find Catalyst 13.9 WHQL, seems the 13.10 is beta?
Hmm. May be a bit coin miner virus? Waits till ur idle then kicks in?

Just ran a virus check, all clear. Thanks.

Despite AVG and Malwarebytes not picking anything up, i decided to run some software that searches for bit coin miner virus. Sure enough it found a problem, i was able to delete the virus and all is back to normal.

Thanks for your help guys.
