I have a weird problem with my new pc. I turn it on and the fans spin and all rgb on fans, ram, cpu water block and distro plate light up but nothing else happens no display and windows appears not to load.

Now if I turn it off and on again everything works great as it should do.

I think my old rubbish gpu could be the problem what do you think?

My specs are

MSI b550 mpg gaming plus with bios version 7C56v16

AMD Ryzen 5800x

2x Western Digital Blue SN550 M.2-2280 2TB PCI Express 3.0 x4 NVMe Solid State Drive

Corsair rm850x psu

4 sticks of Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO Black 32GB 3200 MHz DDR4 Dual Channel Memory Kit (CMW32GX4M2C3200C16 )

Gigabyte GV-N210SL-1GI GeForce 210 Graphics Card (1GB, ATX, DVI-I, VGA HDMI) - I know old and rubbish but only using to test and setup my pc while I wait for rx6800xt cards to come back in stock.

A few suggestions:

reseat the GPU
lightly clean the contacts of the 210
clean the 210's ports (hdmi/dvi, etc) especially if they have been unused for a long period
reseat cable(s)
try a different cable
make sure all the internal cables are fully seated, e.g. ATX, sata, etc

I assume you have tried running the memory at stock too?

Is an odd problem and when I've had issues like this in the past it has been something stilling like mentioned above so my first point of call would be check and clean contacts on PCI slot, hdmi slot of whatever output your using and power connectors

Thanks for the help but I have all ready tried all that. But all help is welcome in case there is something I haven't tried.

Also my brother-in-law says maybe the gpu capacitors are not quite charged up by the time the bios wants to move ahead with booting up so the bios hangs. and they finish charging up and are good to go when I next reset. I've not herd of this but is it possible?

I have no idea, but something you could try is setting a post delay of a few secs, most motherboards can do that.

I am not sure how to set a setting a post delay so might look into it.

My motherboard is set to uefi but the geforce 210 does not support uefi as it came out in 2009 so could that be the problem?

Seeing as it boots the second time, I'd think it was unlikely, have you messed with csm?

Hi I had the same issue with my 4gb 960, my pc wouldn't boot but if I switched off at the mains waited 10 seconds switched mains back on then waited again ( made cup of tea) turned on the pc it would boot.
Spent ages looking into this tried new psu but in the end it was the GPU upgraded to a 1070 and all was ok

Long shot but try booting with one stick of memory .

That might not be possible as my hard tubes for water cooling go across the ram so probably can not take them out without draining the system and removing the tubes. Also the bios and windows sees all 4 sticks of 64gb ram just fine.

I have an update now when i turn my pc on and it shows the logo screen and then goes black screen and not load windows 10 like it did before. Now this time I thought I would not turn it off and on again but leave it and see what happens and it rebooted by it's self and loaded windows fine.

I have now fixed the problem by taking the 8gb rx580 out one of my other machines putting a water block on it then putting in my new pc and all fine now.
