Was overclocking a mates rig with a 700W FSP unit, forgot exact model but it had 4 rails of 12V @ 15A. Hes got a Radeon 4870, P5k-E wifi and Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz 1.4v (now). Basically, stock worked fine for prime but even 3.2Ghz 1.3v caused shutdowns, i previously had this particular Q6600 at 3.73Ghz 1.45V and 3.6Ghz 1.385v (used 1.4 in this for more piece of mind) with the same RAM (4 sticks of Geil 1Gb PC6400) and mobo (not this mobo but same model) in one of my own rigs so i knew the cpu was a decent clocker. Finally gave in and reckoned maybe a dodgy mobo but then for giggles tried a 400W Enermax Liberty, guess what? Works 100% fine so far at 4hrs prime when it shut down within 10 mins with the FSP. Theres only 2 hdds and a DVD rw, one audigy 2 ZS. think it'll make it with the 4870 in the long term? :D i'm thinking since the FSP supplied 15A on 4 rails rather than 20A on 2 rails like the enermax, thats the issue?

Some early FSP we're dodgy, i.e. they we're known to brand & market their PSUs at peak Wattage.

On the other hand, if its fairly old it could be on its way out.

What's the combined +12V Amps on the FSP? I know the Enermax, if Liberty series, is 30A = 360W :)
