weird pump problems

Hi

I have a watercooled rig with a 18w Laing DDC pump
It's been running fine for about 15 months, but on two occasions the pump failed to start on bootup.

Initially I thought the pump failed but I decided to re wire my molex, and used a different connector on the PSU and it came back to life.

The same thing happened this morning. This time I gently shook the pump and it started spinning again

The exact pump is the following:

12V Laing DDC-1T+ Ultra 18W w/XSPC V3 Acrylic Pump Top

Any ideas why this is happening?
Do you think the pump is on its way out?

cheers!

I've had EXACTLY this problem, but I'm not sure of the model of the pump, as it has since broken (probably unrelated).

For me it was the molex connector. Make sure you have a good electrical connection, and that flexing the cable that comes out of the molex to the pump doesn't affect it running...

Actually - just checked.

That pump is still running in my server.

It's an 18W DDC pump - I think I've got a slightly dodgy wire - If I wiggle it around the point where the cable enters the pump housing it can cause it to stutter. I put it in serial and now have 2 of these int he same loop. I'd forgotten about that....

Apart from the odd slight electrical snag, the pump runs fine and has done so almost 24.7 for the past 4 years... IN SPITE of this issue...
