Weird RAM reseating issue

I have a very strange issue with my PC which does not seem to make sense to me, but hey im no expert!

I had the RTX 2080 powered via the 8pin and 6pin on a daisy chain using the same power cable to my power supply. Id read that its better to have two separate power cables, one to the 6 pin and one to the 8 pin. Id found a spare cable in the spares bag to my power supply and connected this way.

When I rebooted the PC I got a yellow light RAM error on the motherboard. I removed and re seated the 4 RAM sticks individually and problem solved, computer boots fine.

I had not knocked the RAM sticks accidentally when changing the cable, so couldn't put it down to this.

The strange thing is that when I've made changes to PC in the past, I have had to follow this process in the past.

Any idea why this would be the case?? It does not seem normal to me.

The RAM is 32GB running at 3200MHZ, configured as 2 x 8GB sticks of Corsair Vengeance AND 2 X 8gb sticks of Crucial Ballistix
 
Yes at some point i will replace the ram with 32gb of the same manufacturer, maybe wait until can get a deal om some 3600 or 4000mhz. I was just surprised how I has to remove and reinsert the RAM after changing the GPU power cables.

I didn't know that about the power cables that come with the PSU. They seemed decent enough, were black sheathed ones, not the old style open coloured ones. Thought that as long as you got a decentish brand would have included decent cables..(there seemed to be quite a lot of them in the storage bag!)
 
My build was the first one i've built for many years. I used that one because it seemed a reputable brand and read reviews that Corsair PSU's were decent. This one seems ok to me so far. My issue with the memory made me think i had an issue with motherboard rather than the PSU
