Weird resolution issue, and breaking in speakers.

Hey everyone,
I'm having a bit of trouble with my new AVR.

I've hooked up my Mezzo 2's and 5 to it (real pain in the ass, stupid twisty knob things..), put my xbox/playstation/wii/cable into it, and bought a new stand to put it all on :D

Unfortunatly, there are two problems though.

The image the AVR sends the TV is apparently 1080p, and the tv can display 1080p apparently (Sharp Aquos 46" LC 46XD1E), but for some reason the image sent to the TV is shifted to the right a bit. The whole image is there, but it's just not wide enough.

Even when i do 'width fit' on the AVR, it doesn't go up to the left edge, there's always ablack bar there (unless i do 2x zoom, inwhich case it it goes up to the edge, but goes over on the right.)

In other words, it's almost as if the AVR's definition of 1080p has a smaller width that the tv's understanding of 1080p.

Furthermore, because i've connected the AVR to the tv with a single HDMI cable, the tv won't let me change anysettings, such as moving it around, or streaching it.

Second issues is warming the speakers in.

The Mezzo pamphlet says that you should wire one speaker out of phase, point the speakers at each other, and play muze out of them for 36 hours.

It doesn't say what music, how loud, and why you should do this... but meh :/

Problem for me is, my speakers are hooked up to my telly, and my flatmates can't go for 36h without watching tv :/

So we've already had the speakers running for a few hours already - is it too late to properly break them in? Will it make any difference anyway?

Cheers! :D

Point 1: Don't know... What AVR is it? Does it have image positioning controls etc? Have you tried another HDMI input? Have you tried a different method of connecting to try to work out exactly where the problem lies? Try a diffferent TV/ source etc etc.

Point 2: Don't worry. The suggested procedure is just to accelerate the process. The speakers will 'burn in' over time naturally with use. What is actualy happening is the cone and the surround supports etc are just getting flexed and loosening up a bit and just by using them this will happen anyway.

Yes, exactly true. They suggest wiring this way so that the speakers will cancel out a lot of each others sound so they don't create as much noise pollution. The intention is to play quite loudly with music which has decent bass, to get plenty of movement from the drivers :)
