Weird resolution problem in games

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone else has come across this problem:

I have an AOC Q2770PQU 27" monitor, its native resolution is 2560 x 1440 and if I switch to any other resolution in a game, the contrast or gamma (or maybe both?) suddenly changes and it makes everything look faded and duller.

And before anyone mentions this, yes I know you should use your monitor's native resolutions but I mainly bought this monitor for its resolution to work with design, but with games sometimes the 1440 resolution is a bit too demanding as I do like to run games at maximum settings.

Please let me know if you have any solutions or know of any possible causes of this.

Regards,

Carl

It is an nvidia. I looked at the control panel and saw that the monitor was scaling so I switched it to GPU and wallah, it got rid of the problem! Thanks a lot for your help jh30uk!

Do you have a custom colour profile set up by any chance?

I say this because on my Qnix I do, and when I change the res or refresh rate it disables it and it looks really bright and washed out

I remember seeing this before and I believe its due to using Display port instead of the dvi connection which causes it. Was a different monitor as well, think its a driver Nvidia problem. Does the same on mine but haven't been bothered to switch the cable yet as I use native. I'll switch mine and try later as have been meaning to switch it over.
