Weird router issue

I have a Belkin router that has worked flawlessly for ages but recently its started doing this weird thing.

For no apparent reason the router will stop receiving info from the internet. I can still contact the router on 192.168etc.. so I know the wi-fi is working but the browser just sits trying load the page to no avail. I get no 'page cannot be loaded' text, it just sits spinning* trying to load the page

The problem is easily fixed by going into the routers home page and choosing 'restart router' but obviously this is not an ideal solution when its happening 3 or 4 times a day.

Does anyone have any ideas for a permanent fix?

Thanks

* I'm using Safari on OS X.

Have you tried connecting an ethernet cable to the router and seeing if you still get the disconnections? Also, which model of router is it?

No, I assumed that since I could access the router homepage then the wifi wasn't an issue. I'll get a hold of a cable and try that. The router is a Belkin F5D7231-1 with the latest firmware - Which I only got recently actually, maybe its that?

Have you tried a modem? or possibly a different router and seeing if the problem is still there?

Again, no. I'll plug it in directly and see what comes of that.

Are you using a torrent program?

Strangely enough my torrent program has always seeemed to run fine. Although the 'freezing' issue tend to happen more often if I'm opening a few tabs at the same time.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll try a cable in the modem and in the router and see what happens. Will report back in a few days.

Cheers
