Weird Speaker Problems in TF2

Hey all,

I discovered a weird problem today when playing TF2. I've only had the game 2 days and have previously been using headphones, however today on my 5.1 setup, I noticed the left and right speaker do not work. The center, back left and back right work perfectly.

I have all the settings correct in my X-Fi and in the options in TF2, both set to 5.1. All other games (including CS on Steam) work fine with my 5.1 setup.

When you start up TF2, the opening Valve logo does use the left and right speaker, but from then on (in the menu), the left and right speakers are silent.

Anyone any ideas?

I guess no one has experienced the same? Anything anyone can suggest to try, as I am a bit lost at the mo as its a great game, but it kinda drains the fun out of the game with no sounds out of the right/left speakers.
