Bit earlier this morning on an internal road of East Midlands airport (apparantly they are public roads)

Copper at side or road with hand held speed camera. Pretty sure not anpr

Was quite an old style camera

Local police website that lists location has no mention of this road

All very odd as it was a strange place, not tripod mounted and not a recognised traffic police car (BMW x1)

Any thoughts?

Could be fuddy duddy central patrol. We have them in local villages. Their anger for speed is only bettered by their anger for the sound of speed....even when you're not speeding. Had a few run ins with them and not once have I been carrying excess speed at point of said run in!

Aren't they usually not coppers though?

Just wondering if it was the airport police either putting a visible presence up or maybe pulling folks over at daft speeds

The camera he was using didn't seem to one that records

Was it the road that goes past TNT? If so they used to do speed checks there reasonably often when I worked there

yes, was going to ask you about it

are they normal cops? they only had a handheld device with no sign of any recording equipment

cheers, just odd that its not a location listed on their safety camera site and they had no recording equipment, maybe they were pulling folks at the time

yes, not seen a stand alone hand held for year, there always used to be other plod down the road to stop folks when they did
