Weird startup problem on new build, help requested.

Hi folks, I built myself a new system a couple of weeks ago and reutilised the old power supply that I have had from quite some time ago. A Corsair HX1000 from... 2008 lol. Everything else is new and high-end, 7800x3d, 32GB DDR 5, 7900XTX etc. I built the system outside my new 5000D case and it worked! So I put everything in the case and no power-up... Hmm. Unplugged the various RGB and fan controllers with my AIO etc to no avail. Then I switched the PSU off at the switch and back on and pressed the power on switch on the case and it fired up... Brilliant I thought, I installed Windows and all the updates, drivers, and games. Powered down and went to bed. The next day, no power on... The same exact symptoms and cure, power off at PSU switch, back on and hit start on the case. I decided to buy a new Corsair HX1000i as it was well reviewed and I thought it may have been the route cause anyway. It came home and I fitted it, no surprise... Same Issue!!! Any idea folks? TIA

You say the problems started when you installed the components into the case, first port of call would be to remove everything and test outside of the case, if you get no problems doing this, double check standoff positions in the case, it could be that one maybe shorting out something with the motherboard.

When you do install back into the case, plug only nessesary hardware in, leave any rgb disconnecetd and power up via shorting the power switch on the motherboard, if that works connect the front pannel switches and try again. keep connecting devices until fully built and hopefully everything should work as intended

Check your psu cables too make sure the correct cables are connected to the board and gpu, dont mix them up, its easy to use a eps cpu power cable on a gpu and vice versa.

Have a look and report back.

Thanks for getting back to me. I’m offshore so will try this when I get home and report back. It’s so weird that the fault is so intermittent. The motherboard stand offs are built into the 5000D case so not sure what I can do about that.
