Weird virus/malware doing my head in.

What happens is I keep getting random games installed by someone or something. Fresh Windows 10 install so I uninstalled a load of preinstalled crapps and games a few hours ago. Then just did some random stuff like install Office. A few reboots later, Royal Revolt, Candy Crush and Minecraft have been installed by someone or something.

I thought my ISOs had been compromised somehow, so I reinstalled with a fresh ISO with the media creation tool and I'm having the same problem again.

It happens with fresh Windows 10 installation. Tried scanning with malwarebytes, nothing.

Any advice appreciated.

Same games appeared when I had to reset a PC. Sadly these are bundled Windows 10 games, and they sometimes appear again if you remove them "too quick". Just give it an hour or so and then proceed to remove them.

Same thing happens when I remove the Facebook, Twitter, Getting started and Get Office apps, they come back again if I remove them too quick after reset/install.

Oh for **** sake microsoft.

Been sitting here reinstalling windows again and again wondering what the **** is going on and this is ****ing normal Windows 10 behaviour?

Nope. Not even signed into any MS account. Literally 10 fresh installs, no sign ins, just one initial local account every time.

I dread to think what would happen if I ever signed in.

I knew Windows 10 was basically a spyware/adware program but I didn't think they did crap like force install games just to increase their download charts/rankings.

I used to have nothing but praise for Microsoft. They're turning into one of the most despicable and pathetic businesses I've ever come across.

Oh, just wait until it starts REMOVING apps you installed. My mum installed old versions of Windows games (you know - hearts, solitaire etc) and ****** Redmond 10 just keeps playing with her and uninstalling them every few windows updates...

Oh ffs. Facebook is back.

I give up. I simply give up.

Cant even get Windows 8.1 running on this POS, apparently Microsoft has somehow managed to block the drivers, it installed but it's just crap without drivers.

I'm pretty angry right now.

What on earth hahaha.

How can people put up with this crap. I've been putting off Windows 10 for as long as possible. 10 mins in and I already want to snap this laptop in half.

I used to laugh at people when they used to say Microshaft and M$ back in 2000s. They've literally turned into just that

Barnacules posted a vid about this a little while ago, not tried it myself because i've not experienced it yet myself.

*hope the vid works i'm on my ipad at the mo :o

Thanks for that, video works fine.

Unfortunately things have gotten worse.

I turned off several of the data collection initiatives. A few reboots later and they've been turned on again! Furthermore, in the past 12 hours, Cortana has sent 40MB worth of data.

This is beyond scary now. This has got to be the largest and most complete unmitigated virus/spyware/adware/malware operation in history.

I have customers at work with windows 10 and it removes all sorts if it "thinks" its not compatible with windows 10 even though it is!

I have just gone back to W7

2016, the year we complain when free games are thrown at us. :p

Seriously it is annoying as heck, but I think they're just Store shortcut advertising slots rather than full installations, so at least they're not eating precious SSD space.

I don't think these appear on Pro, only standard, as I've never seen them and I've had W10 installed since soon after release, but I have seen them when installing W10 for others (and removed them sharpish using brute force with PowerShell using the following command, which should remove all of the built-in apps).

Code:
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage

No, they appear on pro, or at least canda crush soda and farmville 2 do.

That still doesnt explain why asim is seeing facebook installed over and over though. and minecraft, i thought you needed a licence for that before it even installs?

Pro user here as well, can confirm they pop up. All the desktops at work uses Pro as well.

But only seen them on fresh anniversary installs/resets, not from those upgraded from the original W10 ISO and TH2.

Pro user here too, and I have also seen these apps.

Have actually gone back to Windows 7 on a couple of my laptops (1 because it is too slow for 10) and am currently tempted to put my main PC back as well. This is due to various issues I am finding with Windows 10, not just because of the apps, mainly the updating model.

They made life with Windows 7 a bit of hell though - windows updates not working for hours, online driver retrieval taking forever...

Isn't 8.1 with classic shell the answer to that? While I realise that they are obviously not identical, for most use cases I think people wouldn't perceive much difference.
