I've had Vista business running on my PC for a few weeks now, and whilst I like the appearance of it and the fact it's a little bit 'snappier' than XP, I'm having issues with network/internet connection.

The way it manifests itself is my connection will suddenly die, but only as far as loading web pages. The loading bar will get stuck, then stay 'empty' and display nothing but a blank page on any successive attempt to refresh or when I try another page. At this point, and this is what's confusing me the most - is that I can still receive email 99% of the time (not tried to send any when the issue occurs). Another annoying factor is i can't download any torrents due to connection death. If I try to open my torrent client after the connection goes down, it goes all spazzy and won't respond.

If I leave FF or IE trying to load the page, it will eventually BSOD. If I try to shut down or restart at this point, nothing happens, so I'm left to reset the PC manually.

I don't think it's a network gubbins driver issue, as it happens both with my Asus P5K-VM onboard LAN and my Abit Airpace.

It has been like this from the point of installing Vista, and seems to occur after about 30 minutes of browsing.

XP is fine with no issues whatsoever.

Any ideas?

I haven't noted the BSOD message, but i will next time.

I'm running Zonealarm and Avast.

It seems fine at the moment - I've disabled both Avast and ZA and had no problems this evening.

I'll try to see which is causing the issue, then go from there...

It turns out that ZA was the culprit. However, I'm not sure why.

Is there any reason that ZA would cause this?

If not, are there any other freeware firewalls worth trying out?

Are you behind a router? If so I would turn on Windows firewall and not bother installing a third party one.

Would try this,

If not let us know what modem your using and what ISP your using.

I know Zonealarm killed my internet after an update and i just needed a hotfix.
