Weird Vista shutdown issue

Hi experts

Usally my PC is very quick to shutdown/restart. But if I install a new graphics driver or Vista asks to restart after its done its updates, the PC takes a long time to shutdown. The "shutting down" screen appears and there is a LOT of hard drive activity before the machine finally restarts. Any ideas what Vista is doing? It can take 5mins to restart after an update.

Nah, it does that before it shutsdown. Other people say theirs takes the same time to shutdown after an update as it does normally.

mine does it as well, but it don't bother me cos i usually turn the pc on go do other things then come back wens it's running, same as if i have to restart

Im thinking... Could it be Kaspersky scanning the new files before the restart?
