Weird wireless issue

Hi there, I recently bought a linksys WGKPC354G - UK Wireless doo dah, and the card to match it so I can link my laptop to main computer. Anyway, first of all the installation didn't go to well, whatever I put in as my username for my ISP it didn't like it and said that it couldn't connect to the internet. So I rebooted the computer and all of a sudden the internet light flicked on and was letting me use the internet, the weird bit being that it had none of the software installed?

Anyway, carried on using it for a couple of weeks and then the internet part decided to give up the ghost, I've made sure its not the actual phone line (using my speedtouch modem atm), so I wonder could it be something to do with Demon internet not letting people use non standard equipment?

Any ideas on what the problem could be?

I know it sounds a bit weird, but any advice is immensly appreciated.

if you wanted to add the DNS ips you can do, but you dont have to

Primary DNS server

Secondary DNS server
158.152.1.43

then save settings and turn of the router just to check of the settings have been saved.

you should be all up and running then, good luck

oh yes you dont have to use the software for the router. when its all setup right there is no need for it

on the wireless side it should be open so any 1 can connect to it, but i would set a key to it , by turning on the WEP encryption or 64 to 128 any will do, make a key. and write it down. and use to on your wireless card or adaptor

Tosk you are a GENIUS, wireless now works, think its because I had it on PPoE rather than PPoA, anyway, can't thank you enough, have a virtual drink on me ;).

hehe nps Alex happy to help

pppoe is used when connecting a modem to a router via WLan port.

make sure your wifi is encrypted or any 1 close by can use your net

using the :

Wireless Encryption
64-bit or 128-bit WEP Encryption

happy surfing :)
