Got my 8800gt today along with cod4 and crysis, started playing them and within 45 minutes I started feeling sick and had A headache now this continued throughout the day. Does anyone else get anything like that?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Heard about this before, i vaguely remember it's something to do with the focal length that's set in games? You can usually change this.

my gfs bro, after playing cod4 and portal on my comp in about an hour or so, he started to get really sick, i think he was sick as well :/ - motion sickness and all that.

I remember the days of V rally on the Playstation and mum playing it.

She go so sick from it :p
She ended up falling a sleep at the control pad :D

isnt it the FOV (field of view) you need to change i think? EG halo 2 .. AWFUL FOV that gives me headaches, whereas a game like warsow where you can set your own FOV of 100+ i feel fine with

might need to look it up for more info though

funny you should mention something like this, i played witcher, within 1 hour of playing, i went to bed feeling a bit iffy... didnt get out of bed for a week, had a serious illnes, pukeing, cold sweat, really nasty stuff! was in serious pain. doctor said it was a fever. after a while being better, i tried to play again, and i started to feel the same, stopped playing instantly and went for some fresh air taking the dogs for a walk and felt better!

i couldnt understand what it was lol

I remember getting this whilst playing Doom or Descent. Newer graphics engines weren't as bad but it kind of put me off first person shooters for a long while.

I had this exact problem with cod 4 and made me feel sick so much i couldnt play , now i can play all day with out a problem. Like others have said its the field of view that causes it. To fix the FOV do the following : In console (might need to enable in options) type the following /cg_fov 80 then hit enter , this now fixes your FOV to 80 which is the max u can set it to in multiplayer in cod 4 and 90 in single player. I hope this reduces or stops your motion sickness.

With many games it's a matter of FOV (HL2 was famous for this), but with Crysis in particular most people get it from the motion blur. A friend of mine got really nauseous playing it, but then he went and edited the .cfg file to disable motion blur and he's been playing it non-stop without problems ever since.

That's the one! Not focal length. :)

Can someone explain this Field of View thing and how changing it helps with motion sickness?

Any screenshots showing the difference between settings that might make you feel sick and won't?

Yup motion sickeness.
When Quake came out at the same time as the Monster graphics cards both me and a friend suffered from the same thing :)
Your brain soon gets used to it. Just dont play those game for long intervals and you will be fine.

I used to get nauseous playing doom on the original playstation, a few other games aswell, can't remember which though.

I've never had this before, but the closest I've been to feeling dizzy has been with MOH: Airborne. The fov, excessive motion blur and the running/spriniting animations get to your head after a bit, lol.
