Okay, I admit, I've signed up so that maybe one day in 6 months+ I might qualify for a discount code for a graphics card even though I believe that by then it's likely that graphics cards will be back to normal supply and prices will be okay once again.
So, in short, I had a Compaq Presario 2004 Pentium Duo as my previous desktop, which I finally switched to a gaming laptop in 2013. While I appreciated the mobility, I quickly came to regret the utterly un-upgradability of the thing and from playing AAA games it slid down the grades until it now plays potato like games. So I decided to go on my first foray into building my own machine. Something I can upgrade as I go and when I need, one component at a time (spreading the cost). My timing was great... I just about managed to snag a Ryzen 3100 and an RX550 before the market totally imploded. I've only got 1080p so a 3060Ti or 6700XT (or 6600XT) would be great and a 5600X (or 5600) to go with it ...maybe in a year or two when they're available on the market. Won't touch scalpers!!!
Anyway, the real reason I signed up was because I was pretty impressed with Gibbo and ScottiB. I like the way they engage with community (although maybe not when they're tired as they get a bit snappy), and I was also keen to ask where all the RTX 3070Ti FEs are as there appear to be genuinely none outside of the reviewer community.
Anyhow, that's me.
p.s. I should add something of the games I play. Mostly new versions of games I played as a kid: Doom, Wolfenstein, Elite Dangerous, Total War (replacing C&C), Assassin's Creed (replacing Tenchu). Mostly strategy, a bit of FPS, a touch of RPG.
