The Circuit of Wales will be applying for planning permission next month, a venue spokesperson has confirmed to GPUpdate.net. The proposed track, based in the Rassau Industrial Estate to the North of Ebbw Vale, is part of an 830-acre development which is set to cost in the region of £250 million to construct.

Should the initial plans be accepted within the expected timeframe - which the circuit firmly believes will be the case - work on the facility is set to begin in early 2013.

Sounds quite interesting, and assuming the image in the article is the finalised layout, it could be quite good. Lots of flowing corners, no 90 left/90 right Tilke crap.

Is this the one that was rumoured a few months back and pretty much dismissed because nobody thought it would get the go ahead?

Looks good. Never going to get planning permission though :(

Also, disappointingly flat considering its being built in the Welsh valleys.

Given how awesome the landscape is for the WRC, if they do this right they could have an epic circuit.

edit - saw the photo, too flat :/

250 mill sounds cheap. How much did the last circuit that was built cost ?

Would be nice to have F1 there, but I doubt it will happen without a major backer.

Hope a round of the BTCC goes there though.

Well that would be a 100% chance of a wet race then. It is always raining in Wales. :p

Good chance Bernie would say yes what with his sprinkler idea.

Good luck but Bernie will want a very good infastructure - if its a nightmare to get in and out of the track then forget it!.
