you can also spray paint the mobo as well, i've seen this many times, it works perfectly ok..... again it's up to you but it still works, i'm surprised you lot havent noticed this on the web before

no where on that thread does it say anything about fixing coil whine, it is purely for aesthetic reasons, and yes whilst it might be ok to try on old hardware and doesn't stop it from working, it will screw the warranty on a brand new 300+ graphics card

1) Buy a card with coil whine
2) Cover it in shiny varnish
3) Card still has coil whine, and no more waranty

GJ.

if you took the time to read the post above, rather than attacking, then you'll see the article i linked too..

yes we know it'll screw up the warranty

yes, plus coil whine is to be expected anyway, and from what i've seen on youtube, it isn't exactly loud anyway.

finally, you can only replace a card with Coil Whine that's got it very bad, and this is quite rare, i think it's caused by the PSU or by too much OC

i must admit i'm very bad at leaving things alone, i geek around with the pc too much, i've removed the cooler about 40 times, i just cant seem to stop playing around with it

you're so knowledgeable about computers that you are sending it to a shop to get them to fit your graphics card and OC it for you?

I had to double read the post about sending it to a shop to be fitted.....Mal tells people to do this, that and the other yet does not know how to fit a gpu or wire parts in place.

Any credibility I gave him has now gone.

My MSI 7970's (Reference) haven't wined since day one. It's a bit of a mixed bag but since my 4850 did as my X1900XT did. The best plausible explanation I've come across is the clean supply of power to the cards.

WINE- With the X1900XT I had an Antec 430W
WINE- With the 4850 I had a Zalman 850W
NO WINE- 2 x 7970 with the Seasonic 1KW.
(overkill, but I knew, when I built my machine that I wanted another one :D)

Ten we realised how retarded it was, and intel made chips with flat faces and everyone lived happily ever after... except you. Why? BECAUSE YOU PUT VARNISH ON YOUR ****ING GRAPHICS CARD!

DON'T DO IT!

There. I tried.

ok good i wont....happy now :D;)

the trouble is he's read it all wrong as usual, i'm doing all that, but i dont know enough about what all the all blue screen messages mean, error codes etc, so i'll have to get them to sort all that lot out for me first, because i doubt you lot will help me that's for sure.

If you get a bluescreen, then you've done something wrong.

I don't know ant error codes. You don't need to. Google is your friend; if you know how to use it properly.

What makes you think we won't help you?

either you screwed up a piece of hardware, or windows needs a re-install, either way i find it hard to trust anything you say regarding PC's knowing that you don't know enough about PC's to fix the odd bluescreen

this thread and Mal crack me up, so much contradiction.

Hey new guy im mal x do what i tell you with your stuff ive never had and dont know anything about.

1 day later - Yeah im taking my varnish soaked pc to pcworld for them to look at as i have no idea what im on about.

Luls were had by all.

Are you being serious on the "I doubt you lot will help me"? If so, that is just a big insult. 'Us lot' try and give our best advice and most times one of us has experienced problems and found out how to fix it.

I have no idea what a BSOD message means untill I google that error and see what others have come up with.
