Had my operation yesterday to remove the plate from my wrist, it’s been in since the 28th of July 2008 – the day after my accident, but ever since it’s been painful and problematic, so it’s been removed after I saw a consultant in September.

Was a pretty quick operation, only about an hour long – listened to the Foo Fighters during the procedure, as I wasn’t out – my arm was just numbed up, like my right was when I had my finger repaired in 2009 :D Although I still left an ear free so I could hear the op – plenty of nasty sounds hahaha!

Sadly, I wasn’t able to keep the plate, oddly due to Health and Safety regulations! I was told that as I couldn’t be guaranteed to destroy it in the correct manner, they couldn’t let me keep it, but I did get to see it and the seven screws; impressive stuff.

So I’m now off work for two weeks, and have to be careful with weight for about two months, otherwise I run the risk of causing stress fractures near the holes… wonder if riding is out of the question, hmmmmm….. :p

Hoping the review on the 25th of January goes ok, it would be nice to get another payout offer too, I’d love to put this personal injury stuff behind me now!

Glad to hear it's now out mate :D.

Awake for the op though? Better you than me! haha.

By not going out, I was able to be discharged the same day, which is always nice :D

It’s not too bad really, the only thing I actually felt, was when they had to hammer it off – they took out the seven screws but the plate was firmly attached to my bone, so they used something (a chisel I guess!) and a hammer – even though my arm was totally number, those jolts were certainly felt!

I am going under and getting out the same day when I get the pins put of my leg. Not enamoured with the thought of being awake whilst they are messing around with my ankle and cleaning it out.

Does it feel like the monkey is off your back now (if it felt like there was one in the 1st place)?

Too early to tell really, need to wait until its recovered before I'll know.
