Morning Guys

Well went over the yard this morning to take alook at the Saab

its a 2.0T Coupe for those who don't no.

its done 65k Miles, apart from needing a new rear bumper the car is in very good condition, engine bay is very clean. Started first time, and drives perfectly :D

Now here are pics

Going to get a quote to sort out the rear bumper today. Hopefully shouldn't be to much, dad's asked for £850 for it. So I went for it.

Sorting insurance out later on today.

So happy :D finally have a car again!

Comments welcome

Why did a low mileage car like that end up in a salvage yard if it only needed a new bumper?

Fixed ;)

It's been hit up the back lightly (knocked the bumper off) and the person claimed so it was collected by the inusurance company and dads company picked it up.

I checked with Dad and by the looks of it it literally only knocked the bumper off, but it's going to be checked out today to get repaired.

For £850 providing the engine doesn't explode I can't complain really :)

But surely the insurer would have repaired it with such light damage at less cost than writing it off?

So did you actually look into Insurance quotes?

You couldn't handle a 1.6 Astra tank on the lanes so you've opted for a 2.0 Turbo instead... You Sir, are either the biggest liar on these forums or have a serious death wish.

Good luck with the car though

Something isn't right about the insurance situation. If the car needed a new bumper alone then it would be economical for the insurers to repair. I would bet it has chassis damage. That car regardless of its value would not be written off because the bumper "got knocked off".

Why does it say £1750 on the windscreen?

That interior looks nasty, I expected it to be much nicer than that.

You will be surprised at what they write off nowadays, walk round a salvage yard and its amazing whats there for so little money.

His dad's yard sales insurance write offs and other damaged vehicles, £1750 is the sticker price for joe public to buy, I can't remember how it works over there but I wouldn't call Phate a liar as I bought my first car from there and it had hardly no damage.

Has it had any front end damage, as it appears to be missing a grille.

And I agree on the interior comment, that is just plain disghusting :(

Usual rules are that if a repair costs 75% or more of the value of the car its written off. I dont know what the book price of the car would be as I dont know its age, but it looks oldish, so a write off would be possible I'd have thought, especially as the grille at the front also looks smashed - is their damage to the front bumber? Even a crack would mean the insurers would have to replace it, which could take the repair cost over the 75%. Maybe it was involved in a front and rear shunt?

Nice. :) Really comfy cars, nice to drive but really dont handle well at all.

Still, I like them. Drove an auto one, box was nice a fluid.
Also drove a 95 2.3 Turbo which was very nice, effortless power and very comfortable.

It's just abit dirty inside. Once it's repaired and I get it home and give it a proper clean i'll post some more pics :) prob going to take a weekish till that though.

The grille is in the passenger seat.

At first looks the front bumper looked fine, but I couldn't really get under it and take a look :p

The amount of dirt and grime isn't the issue, just LOOK at the dash, its hard foul plastic with all the design of a brick :(

Shame, as they look quite good externally.

Interior plastic always look worse when you take them with a flash. I've seen them in the flesh and they ok. Nothing special and a bit drab, but better than they look in that pic.

A 5 door Coupe?

Still, for £850 it's a bit of a bargain... written off or not. What's the power output on these... about 180bhp?

Go easy with it over the Winter :)

Yes 5 Door Coupe, I really like the exterior design of it. Well according to Lookers its about 150 - 160bhp. But I'll get it RR'd soon :)

And I certainly will be going easy over the winter :)

But my god It needs a set of alloys! :p

And has anyone ever started one up? what a weird place for the ignition :p

To be fair its probabaly a 10 year old motor, the interior design is more like 15 year old, so not that bad imo.

Cool, get a dump valve :D

You mean down by the handbrake? I think all Saab's have the keys there.

Pretty cool, it's like starting up a race car.
