Hi Guys,

As some of you may know from the other threads I've posted in, I've just built a new 3570K system and was overclocking on my P8Z77-V LX2 board.

I managed to get it stable at 4.4Ghz...saved the profile, and reverted back to stock for the time being. Played a few games last night without issue.

Today, my new desk arrived so I set that up and moved things around. When I plugged things back in everything booted first time without incident etc, however I've just been fiddling around again and AI Suite firstly decided to give me errors, so I uninstalled it. Rebooted and all was fine.

Booted into BIOS to change my OC profile back to 4.4Ghz, and into Windows I went. CPU Z told me I was still at 3.4Ghz with 34 multipler...strange

Booted into Bios and it cleared all my OC profiles and now no matter the settings I put in the multiplier doesn't bloody change!

What's going on - any ideas anyone?
 
Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

I've hit enter in the multiplier and at the top of the Bios it's showing that the target is 4.4.

Speedster is disabled (according to the bios). Using the latest bios which I flashed when I got the machine, however it's only now that I am seeing issues....it was fine until I unplugged everything and moved it across the room, all 4feet !!

Any other ideas?
 
I did that...no go. Plus when I was in Windows I was getting errors in AI suite...completely uninstalled that and now resetting bios (battery out, and jumpers cleared).

Gong to give it a minute or two and then boot back up.

The annoying thing was I wasn't using the sodding Overclock until I thought about it today.

I worried its a corrupt bios....I can set the OC and it tells me that it's going t be a particular multiplier etc but then doesn't seem to save it through to so boot.....then restart into the bios again and it shows what I'd expect...weird.

Turned off speedstep to make sure it wasn't me!!
 
Issues in AI is one thing but the other posts show I have issues in bios pal.

I just took the battery out with the power disconnected know 10minutes...really need 30mins?
 
Well give that a go..just going to flash the bios again and reset to defaults....other people seemingly had that after flashing bios too according to google....hmm

Thoughts anyone?

I'm going to power down and leave the CMOS battery out for 30mins....but seriously...wtf?

It was working fine yesterday by the way. I had flashed a few days ago, but yesterday was fine....then today, I move my machine 4 foot and bang....this happens.

I've flashed to latest bios now too.

You're missing the point. This was working yesterday. And showing in Windows...what on earth could have happened to to it.

I'll try disabling Turbo (however this was enabled when it OC'ed ) previously although I can't check as the OC profiles have been deleted too ;)

Windows works fine so a) that's good b) this is just bugging me!!
 
Right, I made the changes by leaving the Turbo ratio on Auto and changing the CPU Config ratio to 44 - still showing 3400Mhz in RealTemp and CPU Z.

Well, I think I will be able to hold my head up for the shame at some point...I haven't tried it yet (eating) but I found a post on another forum showing real temp and its 'disable turbo' setting...I switched to Real Temp from Core Temp after I setup my OC......I'm thinking that's the thing.

Apparently the setting exists for Laptop users to stop overheating.
