Ouch, give it 3 days and that green puss will just squeeze out nicely with the help of a little pin, I have had it a few times, dont try it now as the skin over it still still very much alive, wait until it doesnt hurt that much and give it a good pop, the release of pressure if great.

i doubt your finger was hanging off, i think you may be twisting it a little, if your finger was actually hanging off you would have been straight in to stop the amount of bleeding.

I cut right down to the bone and around the side. There was a fair bit of blood
