Finally got all my bits to build my new rig, took me an hour last night to put together, and 10 minutes to install windows 8.1 and not a single hitch, worked perfect first time, stress tested perfectly, idle temps are about 30 with fans all on minimum. CPU stress test took temps to 60, again with fans on minimum. It's much quieter than my old PC and much more stable. Though the Phantom 410 case is much bigger than i expected. Next, i might try a small overclock lol.

Great feeling!! My first build also went relatively error free. I only had one problem, I hadn't mounted my CPU cooling tight enough, so temps were too high. but I guess its better than having the PC not boot for some odd reason, or worse still, break a component!

Enjoy it.

Good to hear... it's always a nervous moment when you hit the power button for the first time after you build a new PC & then when the BIOS screen appears.. yay!

I had all my parts delivered to work when I built my current PC (the last one I built had a Socket 7 processor)... couldn't wait to get it home, so built it during my lunch break

Lol, most of my builds have gone smoothly, except there always seems to be a time where you forget to do something and have to take it all apart! (This is my 5th build i think).

Specs in the end (by mistake*)..

Asus Maximus hero VI
i7 4770*
Radeon HD4870 (Going to upgrade this eventually, or crossfire)
8gb Corsair XMS3
Corsair RM750 PSU
Corsair H60 CPU cooler
128gb Samsung SSD
500gb SATA HDD (it's my old one for now till i get a 3TB 6gb/s sata
NZXT Phantom 410 case

*I bought the processor on a whim whilst at work and didn't realise it wasn't a 'K'. Still, it's fast enough for me.

Cost me in total £515 to build using brand new and used parts.

(I need to sort the cabling to the GPU out yet.
