Rockstar has said Xbox 360 gamers will get a better Grand Theft Auto IV experience.

It was detailing the differences in the two console versions and refusing to get caught up in the crossfire, when it accidentally let slip its preference.

"They're identical games. We're not hardware makers, and we're not like a pawn between these companies, we try not to be as much as we can. We make great games for people to enjoy on whichever system they want," spokesperson Hosi Simon told Games Radar.

"But I guess if you want the complete experience with the episodes, then yeah, you should buy the 360, I suppose." Whoops.

He was referring to two episodes that will build on the GTA IV experience exclusively on Xbox 360 - the same ones MS reportedly paid USD 50 million for. The first of these is expected to be available around March 2008.

Grand Theft Auto IV is due for release on PS3 and Xbox 360 on 19th October.

That's nice news but the problem is knowing my luck my 360 will die before I get bored of the game. :(

Yeah, but Rockstar get cash for getting the episodic content sold so naturally they will hint that you should buy it.

Lots of 360 games use the HDD when it's available, so there's no reason why Rockstar can't have exactly the same functionality for the 360 and PS3 versions. Also regarding disc space, they really would just put it on 2 discs.
 
rockstar also admitted that the 360 was hindering the games devlopement...

We've lived with 3 3d GTA's so far, all have been awesome, none have had any new chapters (except the LCS and VCS but there not really chapters, just remakes) so i think i can live with it, gonna be a good game anyway.

The only thing i no the 360 owners will get and thats AA/AF, the ps3 will probably be worse looking due to jaggies and the PS3's poor GPU, but oh well still will be a good game.

If I was being paid 50,000,000 then I'd be hinting for consumers to buy it on the platform that my business party happens to make hardware for ;)

Rockstar rep comments complete GTA IV experience only on Xbox 360

A Rockstar rep has all but shot down Sony's hints that the PS3 version of GTA IV may receive some kind of unique feature to combat the exclusive Xbox 360 content. Hosi Simon of Rockstar commented that he can not think of any advantage that the PS3 version would have to rival the 360's exclusives and while they're both virtually identical, if you want the complete experience complete with episodes then you should head for the 360.
