It seems my PS3 looks to have given up to the ghost.

There I am playing GTA4 and then the screen goes black, I turn the console off and back on again to find it's just not displaying what BD-ROM i've inserted. Doesn't seem to be spinning them at speed.

I've tried some CD's same problem. Even tried all my games.

I've had it since launch day(March 23rd), this isn't acceptable. I just don't know what to do. £425 down the drain.

I don't really want to go inside it. Nor am good with electronics. I'll phone them tomorrow or try and email them somehow.

Thanks that's a life saver, but wont they know what date it stopped working? And aren't I supposed to have the cover before something malfunctions?

You can't be too sure these days. But then again the T&C's of the constant play doesn't state it has to be in working order before paying the monthly fee. Not from what I saw anyway.

But did they take your old one away first? Didn't they even want proof of purchase?
 
Well from what I've read online it's a rarity that all 3 diodes should die together, but it wont read BD/CD/DVD Roms :(

They dont make em like they used to, my PS2 from 2001 still works fine.

It came from the purple shirt store(****) so I dunno how they'd play ball with the SOGA, unless someone from there posts on here and would kindly let me know.

I just phoned up Sony's support line and a new one will be with me next Wednesday, there honouring an exchange because its so shortly after my warranty ended. I forgot to ask but it'll be a refurb I presume? What warranty will I get on the next unit? Nothing?

So so long away, I need my fix of GTA4 :mad:
 
I wouldn't mind swapping my hard drive over, but I guess with the time taken it'll annoy the van driver thats doing the swap round?

Or better still can I download the PS1 games I've paid for, for free again?
 
ooooh brand new casing, the one i'm shipping back has scratches here and there, but they never affected how it work, just cosmetic.
 
So far I have received nothing :mad: - The man said i'd get a replacement today.

Should I phone Sony to check up on things?
 
Just phoned Sony and I'm led to believe it's coming today, I guess got the cosignment number I guess I'm just going to have to wait until 6pm as been told just now.

But it's been on the van since 7.48am this morning for delivery. :eek:
