Hi All,

Just made the call to swing down to the welsh rally sunday. Ill go down the Saturday night and stay and get somewhere early on the sunday.

This will be the first time I've been to a rally, how does it work with parking and moving between stages?

Does anyone have any tips of the sunday sessions, where to go, places to park or is it best to park in one area and walk between stages etc??

I don't want to turn up and miss everything because I'm a total newbie not knowing where i should be going.

My tip is get to the stage you want to see EARLY. I used to work at the Rally every year and we used to get to the stages a few days before to drop kit off and then pick it up once a stage had begun. The car parks fill up very quickly. I'm not saying get there at silly o clock but give it a few hours, yes.

Don't settle for parking up and walking 100m, take your time. Stick to the areas (don't go standing somewhere silly) but go deep into the forest. It's bliss. Silence for ages then all of a sudden the siren from the officials checking the track is clear then absolute carnage approaching from the distance.

Disappointed not to be there this year, we'd go over Wednesday to Monday. I'd inevitably be on the edge of getting gout due to such much alcohol and food but one of the best events I worked in my earlier career.

Best thing you can do is get your ticket and collect your programme. It has all the stages, times and coordinates. It's a useful guide and iirc it's included in the ticket price.

Enjoy.

Thanks for this.

Is it that easy to park with everyone and just wonder off to find your own spot. Obviously staying safe etc

I've finally booked a hotel in ruthin. about a 30min drive to the car park between the 2 stages. So will aim to get there for 7am ish give me roughy 2 hours to wonder up to a nice spot before the first cars. Hopefully thats enough
