Now, I'm an Arsenal fan myself, always have been, always will be, and don't get me wrong, I think what Wenger has achieved and done for the club is astounding, but I think he's starting to lose the plot.

I mean, for starters, we haven't won anything in five years. Now you can look at me and call me critical, but I am one of those fans that doesn't really mind about winning, as the good results are enough for me, at least I was like this until about 2 weeks ago. We can all examine the transfer markets and say: "look how much he's spent compared to most, and we still come 4th" and "lots of youngsters, still getting results". This would be fine for me if I was supporting a second rate club, but I'm most certainly not, I'm supporting what I used to think was the greatest football club in the world, but sadly reality has hit me and my rose-tinted glasses have been lifted from my face.

The worst thing is, I think the problem lies in the man we've all grown to love since he first joined Arsenal: Arsene Wenger. He was great back in the day, when money wasn't everything, and the top players were valued at £25 million. That kind of money isn't spent on someone who's going to sit on the bench in these times. Look for example, at Real Madrid, forking out over £60 million for Kaka, and still looking to land Ronaldo. I'm not aksing Wenger to go out and spend this kind of money, because I am most certainly against it, but the whimpy £13 million he's brought to the transfer market is something most will laugh at.

If you look back to that unforgettable seaons, "The Untouchables": that's what they used to call us. We went a whole season without losing a single Premiership game, and were we playing with these "stars-in-the-making" as they call them? No, we were sending out eleven of the best players in the world: and they were winning. This is going to sound contradictory, but I love the Arseal way of football, and our sqaud (exluding that flop of a striker, not mentioning any names *cough*bendtner*cough*), but I think Arsene Wenger needs to come to his senses and finally spend some money, or at leats someone does.

I'm sorry Arsene, but in my opinion you've peaked, and you're snowballing downhill. Please prove me wrong: win us something next year.

Now, the point of this thread is so I can hear other people's opinions on the matter, and hopefully if we get enough support, we may be able to get something done. It may sound like a long shot and quite ridiculous, but trust me, a little contribution goes a long way.

Wenger doesn't bring any money to the transfer table. He can only buy what is given to him to spend by people above him.

So, your rant is pretty much pointless.

You see Morba, you are wrong. Wenger has brought £13 million to the transfer window this season, but one of our owners openly said to the press he would give £40 million for him to spend. It shows how stingy Arsene is.

i support spurs.

i would love a manager who spent time on improving the players he had rather than being taken for a laugh on the transfer market.

i am fed up of managers coming to spurs and spending money to try and "make the squad their own"; they need to man up and man manage what they have.

wenger, i loathe, but i do respect what he has done.

Oh yes, don't get me wrong, I do respect him tremendously, and I love what he has done for the club, but I feel the time has come where his methods aren't as effective, possibly due to the rising prices of football in this era, but he needs to take some tips from the method proved effective my Alex Ferguson and whoever's managing Chelsea nowadays.

As a newcastle fan I'd personally love a manager like Wenger,

for too many years have we spent quite big for what? championship football...

Arsenal in the champions league every season... Shows you don't need to spend that big..

Arsenal only need a couple of players and you never know they could have a decent shot at the league

stingy?

how exactly would you spend that £40m... Wenger wouldnt just go spend it because he has access to it. He has targetted what he feels he needs and is going to spend that amount.
He clearly knows that he cannot spend £60m on Kaka or Ronaldo or have enough to spend on any 1 single person that would make a difference.

Though I have no basis, I very much doubt that wenger snubbed 40million in order to spend 13million. Do you have a quote for this? Even with the quote i'd find it hard to believe, I appreciate Wengers policies on not breaking the bank on wages etc, though im pretty sure if he was told hes free to go wild, he very much would.

I highly doubt he even has £40m to spend. The board say that, and he goes along with it, so save their face. I'd be surprised if he's even allowed to spend £25m this transfer window. You also want to think yourself lucky. He doesn't moan and groan about lack of fund's. he just gets on with his job. Can you say that Ferguson, Rafa, or even MON, would do the same?

What on Earth changed two weeks ago for you to switch your opinion so drastically?

You're a troll.
