Now, I'm an Arsenal fan myself, always have been, always will be, and don't get me wrong, I think what Wenger has achieved and done for the club is astounding, but I think he's starting to lose the plot.
I mean, for starters, we haven't won anything in five years. Now you can look at me and call me critical, but I am one of those fans that doesn't really mind about winning, as the good results are enough for me, at least I was like this until about 2 weeks ago. We can all examine the transfer markets and say: "look how much he's spent compared to most, and we still come 4th" and "lots of youngsters, still getting results". This would be fine for me if I was supporting a second rate club, but I'm most certainly not, I'm supporting what I used to think was the greatest football club in the world, but sadly reality has hit me and my rose-tinted glasses have been lifted from my face.
The worst thing is, I think the problem lies in the man we've all grown to love since he first joined Arsenal: Arsene Wenger. He was great back in the day, when money wasn't everything, and the top players were valued at £25 million. That kind of money isn't spent on someone who's going to sit on the bench in these times. Look for example, at Real Madrid, forking out over £60 million for Kaka, and still looking to land Ronaldo. I'm not aksing Wenger to go out and spend this kind of money, because I am most certainly against it, but the whimpy £13 million he's brought to the transfer market is something most will laugh at.
If you look back to that unforgettable seaons, "The Untouchables": that's what they used to call us. We went a whole season without losing a single Premiership game, and were we playing with these "stars-in-the-making" as they call them? No, we were sending out eleven of the best players in the world: and they were winning. This is going to sound contradictory, but I love the Arseal way of football, and our sqaud (exluding that flop of a striker, not mentioning any names *cough*bendtner*cough*), but I think Arsene Wenger needs to come to his senses and finally spend some money, or at leats someone does.
I'm sorry Arsene, but in my opinion you've peaked, and you're snowballing downhill. Please prove me wrong: win us something next year.
Now, the point of this thread is so I can hear other people's opinions on the matter, and hopefully if we get enough support, we may be able to get something done. It may sound like a long shot and quite ridiculous, but trust me, a little contribution goes a long way.
