Ok I went up to 'The Wheel Alignment Balljoint Centre' in Bootle yesterday morning to put my car (200sx s14a) on their Hunter rig.
I gave them the Whiteline sport settings:
Front
Camber -1.5 to -2.0
Caster P+7.5 / D+7.0
Toe 0
Rear
Camber -1.25 to -2.0
Toe 0.5mm to 1.2mm toe-in
and they entered them into their computer as follows (have been told on SXOC this isn't totally correct but never mind for the moment):
and the result after inspection was:
Ok so first my set up:
Apex Gen2s
Driftworks rear camber arms
18" x 9.5 / 8.5 ET30/35 (back / front)
Now bare in mind that I hit an uncovered drain hard a few weeks back (bad enough to need a replacement wheel ). The camber on the front left is quite far out, and the guy in the garage said he thinks something has bent - if I understood him correctly I think he was saying he thought it was the camber bolts??
After I got home I started to have a think, and remembered that I had adjustable top mounts on my coilies which are used to adjust the camber (I think??) which they didn't look at. So I went to have a look this morning and saw this:
You can see ring marks where the bolts have been tightened down in a different position to what they are now.
So I looked at the other (correct) side:
These are set in the position that the faulty side were previously at.
Now here is my question:
Would running over something like a pot hole or drain hole cause the adjustments to move like this? Or is it more likely something really is bent? And if something was bent what would is it likely to be :wack:. I think he was saying it was the bolts themselves but he didn't seem to know himself.
Finally - they seem to think it will take up to 2 hours work to fix all the issues on the car (when whatever is damaged is replaced), is this realistic?
Sorry for the rather long and rambling post.. I am a bit of a suspension noob I'm afraid
