kept thinking and deciding, thinking and thinking, and in the end I just thought #crew it...

Nice purchase :)
Let us know how it compares to the 17-85 IS

You would hope it would be a damn bit better than it.

Nice lens BTW, going from the build quality of the 17-85 to an L will certainly be a nice surprise. The only problem I can see is that 24mm might not be wide enough on a 350d. Oh well, uss that as an excuse to get a 10-20.

Well the 24-105L IS has a constant F4 aperture compared to F4.5-5.6 on the 17-85, it'll also have weather sealing and come with a lens hood & pouch :) :)

The Super-UD glass and three aspherical lenses should take care of the image quality :)

checked with the company I ordered it from and it's the latest batch - phew! Should get tomorrow so might go down to Chelsea and Victoria & Albert bridges as thet are near me and do some test night shots.

You are doomed - you'll most likely find 24mm not wide enough, then be forced to sell everything you have in order to buy a 5D. It's a very slippery slope with no foreseeable end ;)

lol

I was looking at 5D prices on fleeby last night, you must have read my mind :p

TBH i think i'll just buy a proper kit bag and get the Tokina Pro DX 12-24mm f/4
