I'm practicing for when the British super bikes come back later this year :) A 3 day event which has produced some good racing on this tight and twisty circuit.

This was just a club event and in true Paddy fashion nearly all the races were cancelled in the afternoon due to a big start-line pile up and then oil on turn 2. I arrived at 2pm and only got to photograph 2 races  Typical.

Anyway here is the best of the lot, all taken with my 350d and either the 70-300IS or my 17-85IS

Nice shots. You didn't happen to catch the name of the rider of No. 26 there? Looks like my mates bike, leathers and him!

No Idea who No.26 is, Sorry. Nice "Kenny Roberts" paintjob on a Yamaha R1, There is a road version of this too, a bit unusual for a race bike as they cost extra IIRC.

If it is your mate I can send the originals if he wants.

Looks like there is a few BSB fans here, Thanks for the comments.

Nice shots, I like the angle you've got on 3 and 4, and I think 1 and 2 could be superb had the shutter speed been slowed down a bit more to get some motion blur.

How did you find the 70-300 for taking action shots like this?

Tom

Agreed Tom
I think 1 and 2 could be superb had the shutter speed been slowed down a bit more to get some motion blur.
I had the 350d setup on sports mode for the shots 3 and 4 to try to freeze the action. For the panning shots I usually try to use about 1/200 but in this case I did not change back to Tv to get that motion blur :(

Thanks for the comments,

Kieran

Forgot to say,

I like the 70-300 IS a lot.
If you check out the EXIF on shots 3&4 you will see that they are shot at 300mm and still sharp. I just did a slight crop and resize for the forums. It really helps on a bright day, I struggle if it is heavily overcast, An F2.8 version would be class !!
