I went to Foxhall Stadium in Ipswich tonight, home of the Ipswich Witches speedway team who were riding against Rye House Rockets. Ipswich are now in the Premier League which sounds fantastic but it is effectively division 2. I hadn't been to a speedway match for over 20 years.

Not a great surprise that the stadium is exactly the same as 20 years ago - virtually no investment in that time. That includes minimal investment in lighting, which made photography very tricky.

A couple from the set:

Foxhall was one of the few tracks iv'e not had the pleasure of visiting when they rode in the elite league. Race nights being on the thursday with the odd bank holiday, i was never able to get over to watch coventry match up.

Shame they droped from the top flight, but for those that know, it'd dragged on for years with the understrengh team building, the polish connections with the club and the inconsistancy that comes with that in terms of the smaller tracks over here, and rider commitment when you build around poles.

That said though the premier leagues decent and stable, been to a few meetings, leicester, sheffield and up at stoke.

Glad to see somebody else interested in the sport:)

Some good pics there.
As above good to see someone else interested in the sport.
Last visit to Ipswich was last season to support Swindon, pretty good meeting that night with Swindon winning as well made the journey worthwhile.

On the speedway vibe, well done to greg hancock last night.

14 years after winning his first world championship, he repeated the feat at the grand old age of 41 years old.

For those that know the fella, he's just about the most honest, fair play guy you could ever wish to see in any sport.

It realy couldn't have happend to a nicer guy, well done that man:)

Would have to agree about Greg Hancock thoroughly deserved to be world champion.
Saw him win the British gp at Cardiff this year, not sure how he stayed on on the 2 bend when Pedersen squeezed them up but superb ride though.
