I see Toolstation has a new range of Wera tools - I do like the stubby screwdriver with bits in handle. - Tempted - don't need it but could display it on bench.

:D

Very random thread.

I have loads of Wera sets. They for me are the bees knees. I’ve got that little one with a set. I’ve also got the slightly longer one that doesn’t have the screw bits in it.

Anyway, I’d get the bahco stubby ratchet set if I was you. It’s a small bit longer as you can see in the photo below but it’s a better all rounder, if in a tight spot it’s easier to use the ratchet if you can only get two fingers on it.

I did think about it not having a ratchet so it might be tricky to turn in tight space.

Years ago when i needed tools like this I couldn't afford them - Now I can afford them I don't need them. Or to put it bluntly my hand's can't work them :)

What I will say is though a tool check is an even better bit of kit.

I’ve got both the imperial and metric of those. You get a small ¼ bit drive ratchet. It’s almost the same size as those. It’s actually the same size as that ¼ ratchet at the top centre of the photo.

It’s even easier to use. It also comes with a small bit holder screwdriver which can be helpful but I struggle to get any purchase on it.

They really are a game changer.

If you get that and pair it with the maint kit, it has a nice ratchet full sized ¼ drive handle that can go a different angles.

Then if you really want to be sorted for pretty much every single situation.

Get one of these flexiable screwdrivers

I bought a micro kit from Lidl quite a while ago so don't need the small stuff .
I do have a 6mm Wera handle i bought not realising it didn't take hex bits so had to buy a hex adaptor. The adaptor rocks a bit so put PTF tape around it at top -got some superglue and stuck it into handle - so now have a hex Wera handle.
Just ordered some 50mm hex bits and this will now be the house screwdriver.
I have a home tool box as well as a garage tool box - saves me going outside in cold and wet.
Long gone are the days when I took my first engine apart with a ex Gov adjustable spanner -screwdriver and 3/8 spanner and hammer.

You know you aren't dead yet, right?

It can't be that far off.

Just been in loft - the outside light keep coming on and off ( it's windy ) so went up and turned it of -Got isolator switch up there.

My head thinks i am still 50 but my body says FFS go and lay down. :(

Love wera tools. Got some socket sets, 1/2, 3/4, 1/4 torque wrenches, joker spanner sets, etc. Quality is just amazing. Any excuse to buy something new each month lol. :p

Most normal people would crack on and ignore it. Don't be a statistic <3

Wera is definitely a step up from Stanley/Draper/Store Brand stuff. A good balance of VFM Vs. quality for hobbyists.

My most used tool is a Wera pistol grip ratchet screw driver. I do have two minor gripes with it. Firstly, the bits that come with aren’t particularly magnetic and don’t hold on to decent steel screws very well and won’t pick up Chinesium fasteners at all. Secondly, the ratchet mechanism can get stuck at times, usually at the least convenient moment.

A few years ago (must be 10 now) I found my screwdriver set (electricians) was starting to look a bit worn out so I looked up screwdrivers and found Wera so bought a few here and there -Now have a rack full of most used sizes -Then bought a electricians set that was on offer (red) and my 6mm hex handle -All my other tools are what I have collected over the years starting with a Gordon socket set in imperial and that cost me a load of greenshield stamps. Still have it -my socket sets are either German or Machine mart.
Had a nice set of Craftsman spanners from out laws when he died -

I have all these tools and no one to pass them on to.
