Mine works fine via optical, just set it to do so in the options. Before outputting via HDMI and optical, I updated the firmware and set the device up via composite leads.
Passes through the streams fine to my amp in DTS/AC3 5.1.

Sorry to thread jack and bump an old thread from the dead but I have a question and it saves me making a new thread lol.
If playing a MKV file that has a DTS sound track, will this output the audio via the HDMI to the TV speakers?
Just a friend at work has one and said he got no sound, and he thinks he needs to use the optical out to an amp.

The Live will as far as I know, the old WD TV won't decode DTS.
