I sent a raptor back to WD about 10 working days ago, and it was there the next day, signed for. I got an email from WD the next day saying they had recieved it but it may take 5 working days to appear on the system. I left it 7 working days and sent an email asking for some sort of update, quoting my RMA and serial, and all the relevant info. I got an instant reply saying I would have a response in 1 business day 3 working days ago, and at this point, there's nothing, and everything is unresolved. Anyone else had a similarly ***** experience with them? Is this normal, or should I get slightly more concerned?

Dont worry, Ive been in exactly the samer position as you. I had to send a raptor back to them when it died and it took about 20 days in total for it to go through their end, they're very slow on their site.

I had mine special delivery and recorded, and I checked royal mail and it was signed for but WD take forever in processing.

On recieving it, the invoice and the outer packing told me where this hard drive had been, and believe me it mounted up some air miles! Germany, various parts of England lol.

So give it a few more days :P

(Altho to add insult to injury, the replacement they sent me blew up again 10 days later lol). They do say they give 100% working refurb'ed drives... hmm lol

The thing that really annoys me (talking about adding insult to injury), they've been known to send inferiour model drives back to the user.

I RMA'd a 250GBAAKS drive a while back and got the more plattered KS model sent to me. I was told my email that they're the same drive. Erm, no.

Cac.

Here I was assuming that sending back an old raptor would mean a new one. I might get me old battered one back? *cuts wrists*

Many companies replace with refurbs when under warranty. The way I see it is if the item works just as it should then that’s cool but if its performance and reliability is not equal to the item it has replaced it should be sent back ASAP!

Indeed.

I was really hoping for one of the newer 74gb raptors, but I guess the chances are pretty slim with all this refurb ********.
