I'm looking to buy the following ceiling fan:

http://www.westinghouselighting.eu/...-fan-with-dimmable-led-light-kit-7206840.aspx

There are cheaper available but the dimming function doesn't work properly with LED bulbs etc which defies the purpose. They work okay with incandescent and halogen bulbs, I have confirmed this as I have 2 fans upstairs in the bedrooms and they won't work with LED dimmable bulbs.

Therefore, as halogen and incandescent are banned from production in the EU now, I wanted something future proof, so obviously need LED compatible. I came across this, but as far as I can see, it doesn't use a bulb and the LED circuit is built in to the fitting.

This worries me, as £180 on a light fitting, if I have a dud LED in the circuit then it's lights out potentially in a couple of years and I have to replace the fitting? Am I getting this all wrong? Is the led light "kit" serviceable or replaceable?

From the manual it looks to be a specialist LED fitting rather than them just chucking a standard and easily available dimmable LED bulb in.

You might be able to get a replacement LED but I wouldn't bank on it.

Unless I'm wrong, it's not usually the light fitting that decides if it will accept a dimmable bulb but rather the dimmer switch itself. Could be that you just have the wrong wall switch. Though I'm not sure for fans with remotes.
