Turned my pc on today but no signal to the monitor, when i checked the 290x i noticed water dripping from it and on closer inspection i found the corsair h80i was leaking from one of the tubes and onto the gpu, so is the gpu fubar or is there any chance it will dry out and still work

I have the gpu out in the sun hoping it drys out, just found my reciept and the h80 is just over 1 year old, gutted about the 290x it was brand new but i bought it off a guy who had it as a replacement for a faulty 7990

Which make was it? Might be worth asking the maker for an rma anyway. If you contact the guy he might be able to provide you with an invoice, then you can say this was the card you sent me as a replacement. Contact the seller. :)

Its a msi gaming edition, the guy i bought it from said he would help with a rma if needed i hope he is

well I have the stock cooler on and using on board graphics and all is well so that's something I guess, im going to give gpu until tomorrow to make sure it as dry as possible, im thinking it might be a good idea to remove the back plate in case there's any liquid underneath

ive had chance for a closer inspection and one of the tubes attached to the rad come loose of the barb, the 290x is just below it, would it be possible for the heat from the 290x to warm up the tubing allowing it unseal and come loose or am I just grabbing at straws and the thing was just faulty

i agree. i'm one of them, tbh i was thinking about getting a sealed water cooler, but seeing afew more people having them leak it's put me right off.

yeh i know what you mean, im undecided to put another back on as i dont bother to oc anymore, infact the stock intel cooler is so quiet but not sure about temps as my pc is only web browising due to lack of gpu at the mo, still looking at it trying to build up the courage to see if it works or not

well afer a week since i emailed corsair i had just about give up hope then today i recieved an email from them with a compensation claim form and they will pay for postage for the h80i and 290x to check over, seems fair enough to me so hopefully will be sorted soon

Update

corsair has inspected my h80i and 290x and has offerd a replacment cooler and $400 for the 290x, i think this eqautes to about £235, not enough to replace a 290x but enough to help out, my guess is they valued the msi 290x on us prices

my problem is I bought the msi 290x off another forum, it was a brand new replacement for a faulty 7990 but I have no invoice and the seller thinks he put it in the box when he sent it to me but there was no invoice and ive not heard from the seller again.

so if I push corsair for more and they ask for the invoice as proof ive got nothing also I paid £300 for it so my loss is about £65 not really the end of the world so im thinking take the $400 and put it down to experience
