what time of year do you expect to ride/drive in???
ive got a 5/3 for winter, and a 3/2 for summer. Ive also got a thermal rashie in case i need another layer. its pretty vital to get a decent winter wetty, cold water is a lot more dangerous than it looks.
if you can, get a semi-dry wetsuit. they dont let water in (unless it comes in through arms, leg and neck seals), really warm, and...some...have lots of rubber to defend against wind chill. seeing that your rarely in the water, wind chill will defo be a issue to think about.
you could get a decent 3/2 and wear that under your shorty. but sometimes it best to get a specific suit for a specific task. you decide.
