Pretty sure you have to be rooted still to get this working as android won't let you mess with the web traffic. Root gives you (or the add blocker) access to the hosts file so you can push advert hosts to a black hole.

I dont know what other options are out there, but with root and ab+ on the tablet its really not that effective.

Principally in app ads especially youtube can be sent via encrypted connection, so if you use that the ads are still there, although youtube via the app isnt that massive a deal because they seem to have got the hang of not taking the pee with ads.

Likewise opera browsers inbuilt adblock on android is about as effective as the proverbial chocolate kettle
