Hi guys,

I'm toying with the idea of getting a new card. AMD seem to offer the better bang for buck so like the idea of a 7950 or 7970.

I game at 1920x1080 and would also like to be able to record gameplay, not sure if that is CPU or GPU dependant, or both. Also, I like the idea of future proofing as may well go to a higher res monitor in the foreseeable future.

Seen a lot of people say the Windforces are a good bet, so I'm toying between the 7950 and 7970...

Thoughts? :confused::confused:

Recording gameplay is best done on a harddrive/ssd seperate to the one you're playing the game on. I think hyperthreaded CPU's help as well. As for choosing between the two cards the 7950 is price/performance king and you won't notice a difference in games between the two unless you're using an fps counter.

I believe the 7950 WF are not voltage locked where as the 7970's are, don't quote me on this but if your looking to overclock and tweak then research it just to make sure

Dxtory is the weapon of choice, it can split writes over multiple hd's for less frame impact.

+1, unless you are into benchmarking, go for the 7950 and save cash.

Never used it myself but the majority recommend it as it has much less overhead/impact on your fps in comparison to AB/Fraps etc.

It's also buggy as hell compared to Fraps which Just Works. :)

You sure about that? I have used dxtory for sometime now and not had a single issue.
While I can't say it's has better performance than fraps, I can say it has much better features.
Record multi audio devices so game into one steam then Skype and mic into another to this stops your game and coma getting mixed.
You can also change the video codec dxtory is by far the best out there at the moment.
