Whale meat 'made into dog food'

"A quiet whale meat boom is starting," says the website hakudai.com.

"The number of pet-owners who care about their animals' health are growing, recognising the nutritious value of whale meat," it adds.

Who in the blue hell are they kidding? If anything, we should be eating the "nutritious value of whale meat" not our bloody dogs! :mad:

Why don't they just stop being greedy, and reduce the amount of whales they are slaughtering to meet demand? :rolleyes:

I tell you what, If I could just get funding for my 'research' I could probably solve all our fuel problems, issues with starvation, make neighborhoods safer and stop people complaining about hoodie scum in one fell swoop.

I'd just need about 10,000 keyboard warriors, some factory workers to remove the Bling and anything burnable, and a big meat grinder capable of operating 24/7

oh and probably a jeweller.

probably give japan some soylent green for their dogs too

I feel the same - Whales are intelligent creatures and I believe they should not be farmed, however who are we to say what the Japanese do? I know what you are saying though. If they must eat whales, they should keep them to humans and stop taking more than necessary, it probably boils down to money as usual.

Once they are gone, they are gone.

We can make pigs and dogs till the cows come home.................. to be made into burgers.

Yes I know, however we know/speculate? that Whales are talking to each other, does that not make you think we are talking about an intelligence, that one day could be on par with us?

Ironic how Animals keep the world functioning as we know it. I supposed Bacteria is also as useless? No doubt waste material would break down by pure magic and feed the plants and trees that give us oxygen.

I have neither said, nor implied, that they are useless. Is keeping human beings warm and fed not a useful function?

Amen to that - I sense we're on the same wavelength...which is a rarity for me and the members of these forums!

Everything has a cycle: global warming, food,weather, time, life. It's learning to realise that cycle and what is involved in it, that some find hard to grasp.

You should watch some of the BBC documentaries, we would not exists if it where not for Animals. You should watch some of the Ocean Reef documentaries, they show how one species depends on the other, and the impact it has on the food chain if one insignificant species leaves the reef.

Also imagine if all the carnivorous animals where suddenly wiped out in Africa - millions of herbivores would die in the first year as they would strip the available plant life with in a few weeks. Nature has reached a natural equilibrium and we depend on that to survive. Even the tiny insects in the Jungle's keep this cycle going.

Behave, "food chain". We are the dominant species on the planet, if we decide to eat something we should. What really winds me up lately is the PC correctness of people, we can wear fur which is made from animals as it's from animals... why though ? Why can't we wear animal skin ? What if i want a Monkey Coat ? Or eat a Whale ? So what, we've been doing it for more years than any one could give an accurate guess too.

But should we not protect intelligent species? We have enough food, why should we kill an endangered species like Whales? Why should we Kill Monkeys for their coat? Because we can? Their intelligent, they protect there young like we do, whats the point in killing them for their coat? MONEY thats why

Political correctness? WTF? Animals on this planet have as much right to life as we do. We dont need to eat whale meat to survive. Whales are not a farmable source like cows, pigs, etc. Once they are gone, then that is it. You obviously dont have any idea what the impact would be, if we lost a significant species such as the whale.
We hunted whales in oldern days for many different uses....not for "research", and back then, the dangers of overhunting were not realised. Besides, how much research can you do on a dead whales carcass?

You dont need monkey fur either to keep warm. Cows, pigs, etc are bred specifically so that all parts of their bodies are used. Thats why leather is generally accepted in society. When we lived in caves and hunted to survive, then yes, maybe we did need monkey skin coats, as we used it to keep warm to survive.
Do you have any idea of the brutal way in which monkeys are slaughtered for their fur. Plus, why would anyone want to wear a monkey skin coat after that freak Pete Burns is known to own one!??
