I'm in the market for a new monitor, whittled it down to a 35" UW to replace my standard 16:9 32" Samsung.

I'll lose a cm or two from the height which does annoy me but given what's on the market it's the best I can do without going crazy on the space or budget front.

It'll mainly be used for productivity but I'm always tempted to play the occasional game. Still running an RX480 so I'm not expecting miracles on the gaming front.

Are there any alternatives to these people can suggest?

BENQ EX3501R 35" 3440X1440
ASUS TUF GAMING VG35VQ 35" 3440X1440

The key differentiator being one has freesync, the other doesn't, and do I really need it? I want things to look great but I'd be lying saying it would be used for games all of the time, at most you're looking at a 90%/10% productivity to leisure split, if that!

What's the crack with acceptable levels of dead pixels and returns these days too? I really don't want to be forking out for something that arrives flawed from day one.

Only other thing is I'll be using an existing vesa wall mount, presume I can get an adaptor for one if need be.

Edit - Just seen that people are having to 3D print their own bracket convertors because the BenQ is non standard for mounting :o Now thinking the Asus does do freesync also
