Evening all.
Ive decided on a 7800GTX that im after but im stuck on what make to get.

Ive narrowed it down to the XFX or Asus..

What one? The Asus is the cheaper by £20 but whats the better card?

The clock speed is all over the place on the websites so the XFX says its 475 and the Asus says its 430

Will i notice much difference? Ill be maxing it out on BF2 :D

Who gives the Better warrenty and will be arround the longest as i hope to SLI them one day!

Thanks
Mat :)

Ill be playing at max really. To get me the best lag free i can get.

I want to SLI in a couple of years and the chances of finding another OCUK one would be a bit of a pain

i sold mt 7800gtx oc and went to a x1800xt 512, i couldnt run on my monitor past 1680x1050 @ 2aa 4af in bf2 without noticing big slowdown. on my x1800xt (PE) i can run the same res @ 4aa 16af maxed with no slowdown whatsoever.

No need to worry as the latest drivers allow for mis-matching cards to be paired up i.e. a Leadtek BIOS GTX with a Point of View GTX so just get whichever suits your price ;).

Personally I'd just get an X1800XT 256MB card which beats the GTX quite soundly or the X1800XT 512MB which can be had for the same price and wipes the floor with the 256MB GTX.

Also check out the OcUK branded 7800 GTX, it only runs at stock speeds, same as the Asus your looking at but its only £239.95 +VAT (£281.95 Inc. VAT).
Or alternatively get an ATI X1800 XT 256MB which is quicker than all the 7800 GTX cards and is also cheaper as OcUK have the cheapest price going at just £199 +VAT (£235 Inc. VAT)

Happy shopping!

P.S. When it comes to SLi I am afraid you will not be able to buy a 7800 GT or GTX within the next 3 months, as they won't be around any more from any manufacturer.

can anyone guess who works at overclockers here? i will give you a clue his name begins with G

HI there

OcUK have just obtained another new card which uses the same cooler as the Leadtek Extreme and is clocked at 460MHz and 1200MHz memory. However the special part is that we only want £234.95 +VAT for this.

It will be on the site shortly and the code GX-033-DE!! :)

Gibbo, that the same one that has the heatpipe cooler as sold elsewhere?

Hi there

Right the OcUK card is £224.95 +VAT which makes us the cheapest in the UK and it has the fancy heatpipe cooling and slightly higher clock speed over a normal GTX. ABSOLUTE BARGAIN!! :D

Damn right it's a bargain.

Especially if you bring the fact youve not got to change the cooler with something quieter.

Done it again mate :p

Gibbo, from a performance perspective, which card, this or the ATi X1800XT 256MB. The ATi is cheaper too. Also, is that the heatpipe cooler found on the 512MB flavours of the GTX?
