Its been said already but at 22"/24" a single 280 will spank any game you throw at it. My 4870 (512mb) does 1650x1050 for any game without issue (even Crysis). Bear in mind that your 280 is quite a bit better than the 4870 and 1Gb, you'll have no issues.
Note my mobo in my sig.....not had any issues with it, although at £178 it was/is overpriced.

guinness is nasty, i take it the long wait is for them to employ, train and brew some beer that doesnt tastes like someones just emptied the drip try into your glass lol

MW

and OcUK is pretty much the cheapest site going.

No offence mate but i done 3 builds in 2 months and no part has been cheaper on here, this is one of the most expensive sites going BUT when they do some bargains for say the 280 gtx or 4870 then they cannot be beaten but these are once in while, i can make a build £200 cheaper for a customer by using diff sites , just a heads up fella

No!

After factoring in the Bgrade mobo purchase and free delivery, no others could touch OCUK for an overall price recently.

Some people dont want/b grade stock mate and free delivery is not for all members so really it dont hold any water that stament, plus if im spending £££'s why would should u buy Bgrade stock for what other sites have as new for less or a couple quid more? anyway sorry for the hijack back on track :p

You're always entitled to shop around, only makes sense to do so. OcUK is reasonably competitive but they can't have the cheapest price on everything. B-Grade stock varies in discount according to what (if anything) is missing. might be no different from stock if it's just clearance, might be damaged/missing boxes, might be missing leads etc. You can sometimes pick up big discounts (like 50%), or it might only be a couple of quid, and yes - the price of the latter might just be undercut by a big box-shifter. Buyers choice always.

...and then you're made to feel like a trechorous leper by the ocuk police if you even hint that there are competitors out there worth looking at.

Obviously if you want to discuss and compare retail outlets then this forum is not the place. So much is intuitive I would have thought.

thats why i said 'hint' Chris. Of course we shouldn't be spouting all about cheaperthanOCUK.com et al, but sometimes the mere hint of there actually being a competitor brings cyber frown from many on here.
Personally, i've had good deals and bad deals from ocuk, they aint the best, they aint the worst! I would imagine many on this forum fall into this category.
Anyways, back ot topic for the op methinks. :)

A lot of people don't realise that the competitor rule is aimed at preventing *the competitors themselves* coming on here advertising their goods, however indirectly perhaps via an anonymous poster. It's not aimed specifically at us [the forum users]. Think about it, *** Ltd has a box of graphic cards they want to shift at £1 less than the OcUK price, they use an OcUK provided facility to spam their goods to OcUK customers. Only way to ensure that doesn't happen is to have a blanket ban and enforce it rigourously. So I don't feel it's an unreasonable policy and I will buy from elsewhere too if it suits, I just wouldn't advertise the fact - or the particular deal - here.
I know you know this ;) but apparently there's a lot that don't.

yeah thats fair enough i guess. I must admit it never really crossed my mind before, as its not so 'rigorous' a rule on other forums, as in you don't feel like you've just betrayed your country if a faux par like that slips out.
Thanks Chris, good point well made tbh. :)

Can I remind everyone here of the competitor rules and ask that they are respected at all times:

We, Overclockers UK (OcUK) are happy to provide the resources of these forums to responsible individuals without charge. They cost a substantial amount of money to maintain and use considerable amounts of bandwith which is paid for exclusively by us. As you know OcUK are in the computer hardware business and therefore the promotion of OcUK's competitors is forbidden. Examples of promotion are :-
Posting links to competitors websites
Posting links to reviews that promote competitors
Quoting the names or contact details of competitors
Offering to provide the names or contact details of competitors
Hinting about product availability at competitors and their pricing
Using the forums to notify a member of intent or actual supply of names or contact details of competitors
Listing competitors names, URL's or e-mail addresses in signatures
Listing competitors names, URL's or e-mail addresses in profile
Posting links to or the mentioning of auction sites
Disguising attempts to do any of the above
