Yep, i got 200 posts taken off me :(

I believe there can be problems with dual core CPUs in some games, but there is a programs that will fix it, cant remember the name though. If you ask in the CPUs section they will tell you probably.

Just to make sure:

-you have your rates set properly?
-Maybe try turning vsync off

'Runfirst'. Put the exe in the Windows dir, then you can just update your shortcuts to RunFirst <original shortcut path>. Then when you run the game via the shortcut its automatically run on a single core.

What is your motherboard, I know there are some problems with certain Asus Motherboard Bios revisions and steam, I know this all to well, which was when I discovered that my floppy drive didnt work, and I fell on my USB key, now that was a day to remember.

Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe mobo.

but it is more down to sum games aint compatible with dual :(

Hi, I have a dual core system (Asus A8N-Sli Premium + X2 4400) and I play all the games your having issues with. They work fine on my system. I use to have problems until I installed the latest AMD CPU Drivers, The Microsoft XP SP2 Dual Core fix + registry tweak. I never have to run any of my games off one core, everything just seems to work fine now.

Here is what I posted in a different thread on this:

1). install the latest AMD CPU drivers

2). Install the MS hotfix (if your XP SP2) as per technet article: http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?id=896256 remembering to do the registry tweaks outlined in the article.

3). Check your boot.ini has the /usepmtimer at the end of the [operating system] line that boots your system

The reason I ask is that I have an X2 4400 and initially had problems with a few games such as EQ2, Rfactor, GTR plus a few others, since I did all three things above I have had much better luck with running games without having to run em of 1 core including BF2 and TRD3.

There is a problem with that motherboard running games on bios revisions before revision 0311, but that affected a lot more than just the steam games, is it just steam games?
