Hi people

Just got my new system today consisting of q6600 and abit ip35pro.
The installation went great but since i entered the bios and set my ram settings and a small overclock i keep having problems.
Coretemp and cpu-z and control panel/system properties are all showing different cpu speeds and multipliers no matter what i set in the bios
Also cpu-z keeps hanging my system and only showing my multiplier as 6!
My T junction is 100c is this correct?
So what software do i believe and why isnt the multiplier i set in the bios showing on any of the softwares?

Kind regards

The multiplier is being dropped to x6 at idle due to SpeedStep. CPU-Z will show the correct current multiplier.

Yes 100c Tjunction is correct.

Have you set the correct memory voltage for your memory and have you dropped the memory divider/ratio to 1:1 before touching the CPU overclock?

Hi thanks for the quick reply

Right i disabled speedstep and installed an earlier version of cpu-z and that seems to have solved that problem.
I just checked them 2 settings you mentioned and i had done both.
Now coretemp and control panel are showing 1GHZ too high on the cpu - i have it set at 400 x 6 = 2400 !!

Lowering the multiplier always confuses CoreTemp and System Properties, so it's normal to have them give an incorrect reading.

CPU-Z is always the daddy when it comes to reading CPU speed.

Its confusing me too :)! Why lower the multi to end up at the same speed as stock? Just asking...
