I'm getting to old to figure this out ..:P

its a pain in the ass to get computers to see each other on win 10, make sure both are set to private network (it should ask what type of network you connected to the first time but it doesn't most of the time) and you can try adding both to a new workgroup name of your choosing.

Click the little 'computer' Internet icon by the clock > Network & Internet Settings > Ethernet (I assume) > Network (the one that says 'Connected'). Change it to 'Private'.

Then, open Explorer and click the Network icon in the panel on the left. Depending on your settings, you may see a banner saying that file sharing is disabled.

Click the banner and choose to 'Enable Network Discovery and File Sharing' for this network. You should be good to go after that, but if not Network & Sharing Centre (Control Panel, not the Win 10 settings) will have a file sharing option. Make sure you make changes to the Private section not Public.
