960T will do 4GHz no fuss, in fact it's more likely too as it's based on a Thuban core (the ones in the X6's).

There is zero reason to buy a 980 unless you don't plan on overclocking and just need a high stock clock CPU.

Plus with a 980 you have no chance to unlock to 6 cores.

i think id be fine to do a little overclocking but not much, im not that confodent with oc'ing atm, i would like a 4.0ghz with me doing a little bit to help it there, thats why i picked the 980, i will also be using the stock heatsink/fan it comes with.

i hurd somewere games atm use about 4 cores or less, i duno if thats right but the other 2 will be waisted as such? 'have i just answered my own question' :>

But the 960T will overclock as easy as the 980. Since the manufacturing process is so mature almost all AMD chips will pretty much clock the same now. Get the 960T and save that £46 for a future, bigger upgrade when you need it.

I would honestly suggest you don't use the stock cooler, they are terrible. Even a very cheap 3rd party cooler like this:

Would be considerably better.

As for the CPU, even if you only use 4 cores, save yourself £50 and just get the 960T, it'll clock just as high as the 980, you'll do it the exact same way by upping the core multi.

Plus with the money you save you can afford to get a half decent cooler. ;)
