Ive recently been given sub for free: D.
It's only a Sony XPLOD XS-L120P5W (don’t have a clue if that good or pap) under neath it says 1200W... But after a bit of googling I found out I needed to find my RMS, after googleing again I found that my sub is 350RMS.

Now what wattage amp would I need to power this? I don't have a clue about audio malarkey... Hence asking you guys!
I should be getting some free 6x9 from a friend, seen as my in car speakers are naff and really tinny, so it probably would need to power that too.

No point having some 6x9's and a sub will cause all sorts of horrible noise if you have the 6x9s in your parcel shelf and generally people dont put them in their doors, just amp up the sub and get some nice components to put in the front doors, the jbl 75.4 amp is always recommended as its a cheap good 4 channel amp that could be used for both sub and speakers.

One of my mates has a sub/amp in one and has 6x9 in the parcel shelf, it sounds really good to be honest.
I'm only getting a free parcel shelf with 6x9 in as my other mate wants to swap mine out for his ( we have the same car) as hes selling his car. Well I'm not going to refuse that :D lol.
Thanks for the suggestion SoliD I will have a look :) Is it basically any amp thats around 400RMS that I need to look for?

You think it sounds good I used to think my friends sub/6x9 combo sounded good, but it is pretty horrible when you listen to a nice component/sub combo. Although anything thats free is good, could try sell the 6x9s for a nice set of components.

i have 6x9s and a sub and they sound fine but i have front speakers too, but there standard ones.
sub is run of a cheap amp and rest off the stereo till i get a proper amp.

What kind of money do you want to spend on it?

As said, a set of components and a sub is much nicer than a set of 6x9s.

Owned both components are much better.

What do you mean by components? (Total noob: D).
But I've just seen a Sony xplod amp 1000 + JBL sub 1000w all tucked away nicely in a carpeted box going for £100. I was thinking of maybe selling my sub and paying the difference, seen as my sub is just the sub its self, not box etc. Or swap my 1200w Xplod sub with the JBL and selling it on.
By all means I’m going for the best sound quality possible, so I’m open to suggestions, if it sounds better than my friend’s setup in his car I would be happy. I think the 6x9s I may be getting are JBL too.
