I am after a general use controller for both driving games and fps games.
What would you all recommend?
Is the Xbox 360 controller any good, or would one of the Logitech pads be better?

Thanks
Andrew

360 pad.

Now onto the real issue: A pad for first person shooters? I hope you plan to play on your couch or something!

Sounds like I should buy the 360 controller then :)
I assume from the comment controllers are not recommended for first person shooters?
I haven't really played games for years....

If you plan on playing online you would likely get destroyed using a Pad but i don't see why you can't use one on single player

Well it's fine if you're willing to put up with gimped controls (I don't mean that sarcastically). The console boys manage, it's just for PC gaming you have the option of mouse and keyboard, which is immeasurably more precise and fluid.

So yes, except in certain circumstances, use k+m :)

Yep, would have to say 360 pas as well. It just works. And any game for windows games, iirc, have to support it. They even changed the menu/button icons etc when they detect you are using it.

edit: though M+K/B for FPS, natch. 360 pad for more console style games, racing/3rd person etc.

Just about to go and buy one of the 360 controllers and have one final question. Is there any difference between the 360 controller for the console itself and the 360 controller 'for windows'?
I am assuming it is just driver software which I guess can be downloaded from Microsofts website?

Thanks
Andrew
